In May 2022, Mercedes invited ten of their wealthiest clients to a secret auction in Germany to sell one of only two Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupes, fetching a staggering $142 million.

Built in 1955, this rare car is a replica of the race car that dominated every race it entered. Though it never competed, it was driven by its creator, Rudolf Uhlenhaut, and has been kept in a secret vault for the past 70 years.

Mercedes announced that the proceeds from the sale will fund a scholarship program supporting students working on projects to combat climate change.
