This week, I had the privilege of sitting down with Sharran Srivatsaa, a serial entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and thought leader featured in top publications like the Wall Street Journal, SUCCESS magazine, Huffington Post, and Forbes. While our conversation covered a lot of ground, one of the key takeaways stood out to me — and I’m excited to share it with you. It’s simple, but if you put it into practice, it can completely change the way you approach success.
The takeaway? FOCUS! FOCUS! FOCUS!
It sounds simple, right? Yet, it’s something we all struggle with. In today’s fast-paced world, distractions are everywhere. There’s always a new “easier” way to succeed — one day it’s flipping real estate, the next it’s trading stocks, and then it’s flipping baseball cards. The problem? We spread ourselves too thin, juggling too many goals and never fully committing to one path.
We end up dabbling in various ventures without mastering any of them.
As Sharran puts it:
“You don’t need to figure out the next 20 years of your life. You don’t need to know who you want to be, but you need to figure out what’s the next big thing you want to focus on. What’s the one bone you want to gnaw on for the next 3-5 years? Master it, dive deep, and once you have that, it becomes easier to move on to the next thing.”
It’s a reminder to commit fully to one idea at a time — not just chase after every shiny new opportunity that comes your way.
